A Special Request From Agam Berger’s Mother
The hostage Agam Berger may be set free on Shabbat.
Here is a translation of the video that was posted on instagram by Moran Koors.
“Meirav Berger, Agam’s mother, would like to request something very very important from all of us…”
“We are waiting here anxiously for our daughters. We also know, probably, that they may come out on Shabbat [as of now, no one knows who will be released]. It’s not for nothing that our enemies intended this, and it’s important to me—I have looked into this a lot in the past days—how I am going to do this without breaking Shabbat. I spoke with Rabbis…about the Halacha [Jewish law] and the Army Rabbi—and yes, I will wait for Agam with Hashem’s help, with as few violations of Shabbat as possible…
“But from you I ask, those who embrace us, who have been with us on this long journey—and you have so much merit in bringing all of our children back home—if possible…please do not break the Shabbat: do not take pictures, do not be in pictures…and wait until Shabbat ends [on Saturday night]. After Shabbat we will come out, and there will be a lot of time to take pictures.
“Thank you and thanks to the Creator of the world.”
This woman is a lioness.
Just to clarify:
Of course everyone involved is allowed to do whatever must be done on Shabbat to release hostages. But Meirav will not do anything that is not necessary: taking pictures, etc. and she is asking all of us: please do not turn on the news or the internet on Shabbat. We will have plenty of time to see our girls—yes, ours—after Shabbat is over.
This is a huge merit for Am Yisrael. Let’s live up to Meirav Berger’s request.
I had already been thinking this is a Shabbat I need to be more shomer Shabbat than normal
I didn’t know how much I needed to read this. Brings tears ti my eyes
